Samuel and Patricia Balca (Monaco and France)
The Balcas, who are both skilled linguists, received their appointment as UPCI missionaries to Eastern Europe in 1979 and served as the area coordinator for sixteen nations of Eastern Europe. The Balcas resided in Budapest, Hungary, and traveled extensively throughout Eastern Europe. In September 2003, the Balcas were appointed as missionaries to France and Monaco. They now live near Paris and teach in the Bible school while helping to establish the United Pentecostal Church in the new field of Monaco. Visit the Balcas’ website.
Roger and Becky Buckland (Czech Republic and Slovakia)
The Bucklands received their first appointment to the Philippines in October, 1984, and spent eight years overseeing approximately 380 churches on the island of Mindanao. In August, 1993, the Foreign Missions Board appointed them as the first UPCI missionaries to the Czech Republic and Slovakia. They reside in Prague, the Czech capital, where they are pioneering the United Pentecostal Church and establishing a Bible school program. Visit the Bucklands’ website.
Robert and Jerolyn Kelley (Scotland and the United Kingdom)
The Kelleys arrived in Scotland in June, 1984, and have been involved in many facets of the UPC work in the United Kingdom. They have pioneered churches in Scotland and founded Harvest Bible College. Kelley serves on the General Board as the Northern District (Scotland, Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, and North England) superintendent. John and Anne Nowacki (France)
John Nowacki and his wife Anne, the daughter of John Balca, came to France in October, 1977. They started the first United Pentecostal Church and began to hold regular services in January, 1979. Their first congregation numbered four. Today it is a growing, dynamic revival church with a congregation of close to 400. He serves as president of the UPC of France and pastors the headquarters church. He and his wife also oversee the translation of French literature and direct the Bible school. Kirby and Mary Parker (Malta)
The Parkers were appointed as UPCI missionaries to Malta during the 2000 General Conference and arrived on the field with their daughter Rebecca in May, 2002. Their appointment was expanded in 2006 to include the North African countries of Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, and Libya. This is in keeping with their long-term vision and goal of using Malta as a base of outreach into North Africa and its more than seventy-five million souls. Visit the Parkers’ website.
Gary and June Sones (Spain)
The Sones received their appointment as UPCI missionaries in 1988. During an eleven-year period in Mexico, the Sones served the work of God there in many different capacities. In 1997, the Foreign Missions Board approved the Sones’ transfer to Spain. Since that time, the UPCI work in Spain has grown from 70 constituents to almost 3,000. He serves as president of the UPCI of Spain, director of two Bible schools, and pastor of a church of 400 members. Visit the Sones’ website.
